“Engimono” are objects or symbols that attract good luck and ward off ills. In this series I have collected traditional auspicious imagery and intertwined them with urban streetscapes of an imaginary Tokyo.

These images suggest that perhaps mundane objects and our city itself are engimono in their own way— that rather than only special objects, the simple views of our daily life are something that bring us comfort and stir our feelings of gratitude. Engimono serve to bring good luck, while the images of the city represent the good luck we already have.
